My chest hair grew back within a day or two and was very prickly. After researching waxing V sugaring, I chose the former mainly because it's more widely available. My treatment room was fit for purpose with a massage couch to lie on and wax heaters at the end of the sofa. My treatment started with me lying on my front, and the back was the first to be de-furred. This was a pretty painless operation, to be honest. Arms and legs followed, and then it was time to turn over.

Now was the time for the hot wax. My therapist explained to me the reasons why she uses this for intimate areas.

• The hot wax gets a better grip on the hair than warm wax
• It does not leave a sticky residue like warm wax
• It is suitable for removing shorter hairs
• More suited to those with sensitive skin
• There is less reddening on the skin following hot waxing

The hot wax going on seemed a lot hotter than the strip wax. And those short moments, while the therapist waits for the wax to harden, are a bit like sitting in the dentist's chair. You are sure you will be hurt, and you brace yourself. But to be honest, it's not that painful.

After the treatment, my therapist administered some cooling post-wax cream which was very cooling.

And the results. Well, two weeks on, the hair regrowth has been much slower than with cream—especially the coarse chest hairs which have grown back much softer and less rough.

I plan to go back in two weeks and see how the regrowth goes then
